MSIG Insurance (M) Bhd is introducing three pet insurance plans with annual premiums of RM200, RM350 and RM500, allowing owners to select the best one for their needs.

MSIG said in a statement, the benefits include the reimbursement of veterinary bills and advertising or reward expenses for missing pets.

In the event of the death of the pet due to accidental injury or illness, the insurance plan will also reimburse the owner with the purchase price or adoption fee.

“The insurance also provides for third party coverage in the event a pet is responsible for accidental damage or injuries to other parties,” the insurer said.

It added that dogs must be licenced and not a member of any breed that is restricted or banned by the government, public or local authorities, to be eligible for the insurance.

MSIG Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Hsu said: “Currently, there is a lack of pet insurance options in Malaysia.

“We hope our pet insurance will give pet owners some of the same reassurance and peace of mind that customers of our other products currently enjoy.”
